Serves:
Ingredients
- 1 cup sourdough starter
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
-
In a large mixing bowl, combine the sourdough starter, flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
-
In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
-
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can make the waffles tough.
-
Preheat your waffle iron according to its instructions. Once hot, lightly grease the iron with cooking spray or melted butter.
-
Pour the batter onto the hot waffle iron, using about 1/2 to 3/4 cup of batter per waffle. Cook until golden brown and crisp.
-
Serve the sourdough waffles warm with your favorite toppings, such as maple syrup, fresh fruit, or whipped cream.
