How To Make Red Waffles
Made with cocoa powder and red food coloring, delight both your eyes and your tastebuds with these red waffles, for a vibrant and filling start to your day!
Serves:
Ingredients
- 2cupsall-purpose flour,or gluten free all purpose flour
- 1tspxanthan gum,omit if using regular all purpose flour
- 3tbspgranulated sugar
- 1tbspunsweetened cocoa powder
- 4tspbaking powder
- ¾tspfine sea salt
- 1¾cupsmilk
- 2tbspwhite vinegar
- 2eggs
- ¼cupbutter,melted
- 2tsppure vanilla extract
- ½ozred food coloring
- powdered sugar,for topping
Instructions

Prep and pre-heat waffle iron according to manufacturer’s directions.

Combine milk and vinegar, set aside and let sit for 5 minutes.

In a large bowl, sift together flour, optional xanthan gum, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Stir to combine.

In a separate bowl, whisk together milk, vinegar, eggs, butter, vanilla, and food coloring. Gently stir into the dry ingredients and mix well until fully incorporated.

Cook waffle batter in the greased waffle iron based on the manufacturer’s suggested cooking times. The number of waffles made will depend on how large the waffle iron is and how much batter is used for each waffle.

Sprinkle powdered sugar on the cooked waffles and serve with maple syrup. Enjoy!
