- 1/2 cup of milk
- 1 tsp of vanilla extract
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- 2 tbsp of powdered sugar (for dusting)
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
-
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
-
Add the cold butter to the bowl and use a pastry cutter or your fingers to cut the butter into the dry ingredients until it resembles coarse crumbs.
-
Stir in the chopped walnuts.
-
In a separate small bowl, whisk together the milk and vanilla extract.
-
Pour the milk mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
-
Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and gently knead a few times to bring it together.
-
Pat the dough into a 1-inch thick circle and cut into 8 wedges.
-
Place the scones onto the prepared baking sheet, brush the tops with beaten egg, and bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
-
Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before dusting with powdered sugar.
-
Serve warm and enjoy!
