Ingredients
- 4 slices of whole wheat bread
- 2 tbsp of unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups of low-fat milk
- 3 tbsp of honey
- 1 tsp of vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp of ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp of ground nutmeg
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup of raisins
- 1/4 cup of chopped nuts (optional)
Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish with butter.

Spread the softened butter on one side of each bread slice. Cut the slices diagonally and arrange them in the greased baking dish, buttered side up.

In a medium saucepan, heat the milk, honey, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg over medium heat. Stir until the mixture is hot and the honey has dissolved.

In a separate bowl, beat the eggs. Slowly pour the hot milk mixture into the eggs while continuously whisking.

Stir in the raisins and pour the custard mixture over the arranged bread slices in the baking dish. Allow the bread to soak for 5 minutes.

Optional: sprinkle the chopped nuts over the top for added crunch.

Place the baking dish in a larger roasting pan filled with hot water, creating a water bath.

Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the pudding is set and the top is golden brown.
