Serves:
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp active dry yeast
- 1/2 cup warm milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp almond extract
- 1/2 cup raisins
- 1/4 cup chopped almonds
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar (for dusting)
Instructions
-
In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt. In a separate small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm milk and let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
-
Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the yeast mixture, melted butter, vanilla extract, and almond extract. Mix until a dough forms.
-
Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
-
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking sheet or line it with parchment paper.
-
Punch down the dough and knead in the raisins and chopped almonds until evenly distributed. Divide the dough into 4 equal pieces and shape each piece into a ball.
-
Place the dough balls on the prepared baking sheet and let them rise for another 15 minutes.
-
Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the buns are golden brown and sound hollow when tapped on the bottom.
-
Remove from the oven and let them cool on a wire rack. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
