Serves:
Ingredients
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ cup milk
- ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 tsp almond extract
- ½ cup dried cranberries
- ½ cup chopped almonds
- ¼.
-
In a saucepan, heat milk and butter until warm.
-
Add warm milk mixture, beaten eggs, and almond extract to the dry ingredients. Mix until well combined.
-
Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
-
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
-
In the meantime, prepare the stollen filling by mixing dried cranberries, chopped almonds, and candied orange peel in a small bowl.
-
Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).
-
Punch down the risen dough and roll it into a rectangle.
-
Spread the stollen filling evenly on the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
-
Roll the dough tightly from one long end to form a log-shaped babka.
-
Cut the babka in half lengthwise, exposing the filling.
-
Twist the two halves together to form a babka wreath. Place it on a greased baking sheet.
-
Bake for 35-40 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
-
While the babka wreath is cooling, prepare the glaze by mixing powdered sugar and milk until smooth. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled babka.
-
Serve and enjoy!
