Ingredients
- 1 cup pitted dates, chopped
- 1 1/2 cups boiling water
- 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
- 1/4 cup caramel sauce, for serving
Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

In a bowl, pour the boiling water over the chopped dates and set aside for 5 minutes to soften.

In a separate mixing bowl, combine the flour, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

Add the melted butter and vanilla extract to the flour mixture, and mix until well combined.

Pour the date mixture into the flour mixture and stir until the batter is smooth.

Fold in the chopped walnuts, if desired.

Grease a muffin tin or line with cupcake liners.

Fill each muffin cup with the sticky date batter, filling about 3/4 full.

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Allow the buns to cool for a few minutes before removing them from the muffin tin.

Serve warm with a drizzle of caramel sauce.
