Serves:
Ingredients
- 2 large onions, thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
-
In a pan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook until caramelized, about 15-20 minutes. Set aside to cool.
-
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking sheet or line it with parchment paper.
-
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Mix well.
-
Add the cooled caramelized onions to the flour mixture and stir to combine.
-
Gradually add the milk, water, and olive oil to the mixture. Stir until a soft dough forms.
-
Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for a few minutes until smooth.
-
Shape the dough into a round or oval loaf, about 1 inch thick. Place it on the prepared baking sheet.
-
Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
-
Remove from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack before slicing. Serve warm.
