Serves:
Ingredients
- 1 package (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup warm water
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- 1 cup milk, warmed
- 1 tsp salt
- 3-4 cups all-purpose flour
- Melted butter, for brushing
Instructions
-
In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
-
In a large mixing bowl, combine sugar, melted butter, warm milk, and salt. Stir until well combined.
-
Add yeast mixture to the mixing bowl and stir.
-
Gradually add flour, one cup at a time, mixing well after each addition, until the dough becomes soft and slightly sticky.
-
Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
-
Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover with a clean kitchen towel. Let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
-
Punch down the dough and turn it out onto a lightly floured surface. Shape the dough into rolls of desired size.
-
Place the rolls onto a greased baking sheet, spacing them apart. Cover with a kitchen towel and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
-
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
-
Brush the risen rolls with melted butter.
-
Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
-
Remove from the oven and brush with more melted butter, if desired.
-
Allow the rolls to cool slightly before serving.
