Ingredients
- 1 package of dried chipped beef (2.5 oz)
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 3 cups milk
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
- 8 slices of toast
Instructions

Rinse the dried chipped beef under cold water to remove excess salt. Pat dry and set aside.

In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the dried beef and cook for 2-3 minutes until slightly browned.

Sprinkle the flour over the beef and butter mixture, stirring constantly for about 1 minute.

Gradually whisk in the milk until smooth and there are no lumps. Cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens.

Stir in the black pepper and cayenne pepper (if using). Cook for an additional 2 minutes.

Toast the bread slices until golden brown.

To serve, place a slice of toast on a plate and spoon the creamed chipped beef over the toast. Repeat for the remaining slices of toast.
