Serves:
Ingredients
- 2 pounds of beef roast
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil
- 1 tablespoon of paprika
- 1 tablespoon of garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon of onion powder
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1 teaspoon of black pepper
- 1 cup of red wine
- 2 cups of beef broth
- 2 tablespoons of cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
-
In a small bowl, combine the paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
-
Rub the spice mixture all over the beef roast, ensuring it is evenly coated.
-
Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over high heat. Sear the beef roast on all sides until browned.
-
Transfer the beef roast to a roasting pan and pour in the red wine and beef broth.
-
Cover the roasting pan with foil and roast in the preheated oven for 1 hour.
-
Remove the foil and continue roasting for an additional 20-30 minutes, or until the beef reaches your desired doneness.
-
Remove the beef roast from the pan and let it rest for 10 minutes before carving.
-
Meanwhile, strain the pan drippings into a saucepan. Skim off any fat and bring the liquid to a simmer.
-
In a small bowl, whisk the cornstarch with a little water to form a slurry. Slowly pour the slurry into the simmering liquid, stirring continuously until the gravy thickens.
-
Slice the roast beef and serve with the red wine gravy.
