Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs beef steak, cubed
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 2 carrots, diced
- 2 celery stalks, diced
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 sheet of puff pastry
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

In a large oven-safe pot or Dutch oven, brown the beef cubes over medium-high heat until nicely seared. Remove from the pot and set aside.

In the same pot, add the diced onion, minced garlic, diced carrots, and diced celery. Cook until the vegetables are softened, about 5 minutes.

Return the beef to the pot and add the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, tomato paste, dried thyme, salt, and pepper. Stir well to combine.

Cover the pot and transfer it to the preheated oven. Bake for 1.5-2 hours, or until the beef is tender and the sauce has thickened.

While the beef is cooking, roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface. Cut it into a circle slightly larger than the top of your pie dish.

Once the beef is cooked, remove the pot from the oven and increase the oven temperature to 400°F (200°C).

Pour the beef filling into a pie dish and top it with the puff pastry circle. Press the edges down and brush the pastry with the beaten egg to give it a nice golden color.

Cut a few slits on top of the pastry to allow steam to escape during baking.

Place the pie dish on a baking sheet and bake in the oven for about 20-25 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed up and golden brown.

Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
